Four Suspects Caught Red handed

May 21, 2009 – Four suspected terrorists wannabes were caught of planning to detonate Jewish targets of New York. According to a criminal complaint filed in the White Plains, they initially had planned to bombard two New York synagogues and launch surface-to-air missiles at US military air crafts. These men were caught in the act of planting bombs in front of two Jewish facilities, New York City police commissioner stated. These men’s information were leaked when an FBI informant had found out about their mission. The suspects, James Cromitie, David Williams and Onta Williams were United States citizens and were judged in the federal courthouse Thursday. The last suspect, Laguerre Payen is not at the courthouse but was experiencing “appropriate medical treatment” and will be prosecuted later, the FBI spokeswoman Monica McLean announced. The men were charged with “conspiracy to use weapons of mass destruction in the United States” and to gain access and “use anti-aircraft missiles”.The punishments will be "carry(ing) a maximum sentence of life in prison." These suspects were caught while planting fake bombs. Now, all Jewish organizations intensify their security to prevent future threats like this, this event just showed that all Jewish groups are now in danger.

After reading this article, I fear that there might be a possibility of having another 9/11. Now, the United States should not be the only country to be alert, other countries should be as alert as well. If I am the government, I would be passing laws that the government would have the knowledge if any citizens are purchasing an excess amount of materials that could create explosives. They should also make registrations to licence people who are allowed to purchase explosive materials. Ones who do not have the registrations should be prosecuted and the government will keep an eye on people who do have the licence. Suspects should also be stopped and questioned in order to prevent the terrorist bombings. The citizens should also be cautious about terrorism, they could be stopped. If the citizens are not cautious, the terrorists had won already. I hope that everyone will be wary about this kind of activities and stop terrorism. Keep an eye around you, everybody!

U.S. tries to cover up Prisoner Abuse Photos

May 19, 2009 – Earlier in this week, President Obama said he would hold back the prisoner abuse photographs that he initially wanted to put to the public’s eyes. This change of heart was shocking and depressing. The ACLU wanted the public to know what happened to the prisoners for six years. In 2003, they want the prisoner photographs to be exposed because of the Freedom of Information Act for records, which also includes photographs. In 2005, the federal judge in recognized Bush’s action of hiding the photographs were negative. In 2008, the federal court generally supported the choice. Bush’s office continued to suppress the photos, Obama was doing the same. The photos were extremely important because for the historical record of showing that they had abused prisoners. This also showed that the Bush’s officials and the photos’ link of identifying what happened to the terrorists. The reason that Obama changed his mind about the photos were that they “would not add any additional benefit”. Another reason that the senior officials were trying to hide the truth from the public because they fear they will be prosecuted in war crimes with their way of interrogating terrorists.

After reading this article, I was upset about Obama’s action. This is basically just clouding the public from the truth. The public has the right to know what the government is doing with government transparency. This is already going against the basic freedom and rights of a human being. Also, with them hiding the truth, there will be more rumours about the United States torturing terrorists. As the rumour grows, this might even cause more terrorists attacks to avenge their comrades. The rumours might actually even worsen the situation of the terrorist prisoner’s abuse. They only want to hide the public from the truth because of high government officials facing war crimes. Those men are criminals and the government is defending them, where is the law? The photos should be exposed and these government officials should be prosecuted. What the United States is doing is equivalent to the Nazi concentration camps, where when Nazis lost the war, they tried to destroy these camps, denying their existence. US seemed to be walking down the same path of trying to cover up any evidence of government torturing prisoners. The United States better stop and continue liberation the world to freedom, or they will turn into the very thing they had sworn to destroy. U.S., turn back while you still can!

Pentagon release Prisoner Abuse Photos

May 13, 2009 – The Defense Apartment of the United States had announced to release the photos of abused detainees in Afghanistan and Iraq. The Freedom of Information Act was the cause of releasing these photos, as President Obama wanted to show the U.S. that some methods of punishing the prisoners are considered torture by the American Civil Liberties Union. The photographs are to be released in 2006, showing the Abu Ghraib military prison in Iraq had abused the prisoners. The ACLU indicated the Pentagon will be releasing a number of photographs by the end of may. The Pentagon Officials also stated that photographs from the 60 criminal investigations from 2001 – 2006. They will also expose militants abusing the inmates. The reason why the ACLU wanted the photos were to proof that the U.S. personnels had abused the prisoners in the camp. However, the Pentagon objected ACLU claiming that the photos will pictured that there is a pattern of abuse by the military. The Pentagon spokesman stated that they were drastic about inspect “credible allegations of abuse”. He said, “The policy of the Department of Defense is to treat all prisoners humanely, and those who have violated that policy have been investigated and disciplined.” The Pentagon does not want the images to be exposed to the public, however, they lost in two court cases and were forced to release them. The Defense Secretary Robert Gates rejected the idea of putting the photos into public because with these photos, it give the al Qaeda a chance to employing more terrorists and a reason spread more violence.
After reading this article, I was traumatized and upset. The article just showed the entire world that the country, the one states that they are the supporters of human rights, full of democracy and liberty was actually the opposite of what they state. Everyone deserves punishment in jail, but torture? This is just inhuman and ironically, it violates the U.S. human rights, their own country who set up these rules. I thought the U.S. army was to liberate the countries under dictators. However, I was wrong, they are just as parsimonious as the invaded country’s previous leaders. If they are liberating the country, they should share the human rights. This is a wrongful act done by the Untied States of America. I think that the government of the United States should be more cautious about what the militants will do to the prisoners. The ones who are prosecuted should face the punishment of breaking the human rights. These photos are enough to show the evidence of torturing and abusing the detainees. I hope the district attorneys will be capable of putting the inhuman militants into jail, so these monstrous beings could learn from their wrongful acts and reform. Where’s your decency, U.S. militants?

Top U.S. commander in Afghanistan Replaced

May 11, 2009 – Defense Secretary Robert Gates will announce that he is swapping General David McKiernan with Lt. General Stanley McChrystal to be the commander of NATO forces in Afghanistan. The change was actually motivated by Obama who wanted to fight and end the Taliban militants in Afghanistan. Before Gates left the trip, Gates indicated that the Taliban in Afghanistan are thorny to negotiate with because of so many cultural barriers and differences. He also noted that there are two kinds of soldiers there, there are the younger ones, working only to feed their families and others who are there because they are religiously committed. Gates is trying to sway some of the Taliban who were only in battles for pays from fighting. Gates had visited Afghanistan last week. McChrystal is currently in the position as the director of the Join Staff in Washington, D.C. and previously the leader of the Joint Special Operations Command in Fort bragg, North Carolina.
I was interested in this article because I want to know how was the fighting with the Taliban in Afghanistan. Now, the U.S. is about to replace one of their important commanders with new blood. I am worried with their choice because they have to be cautious with their candidates, if this chosen candidate is not as competent as they thought he may be might result huge casualties. Also, this newly chosen commander did not have experience in conducting battles in Afghanistan, it might be an error of choosing him. I hope that their choice is worthy of leading their troops in Afghanistan. Also, I believe that Robert Gates is making a good point on trying to lure out some of the less committed Taliban who are fighting only to feed their families. By seeking those Taliban out, the U.S. could negotiate with them to join their side and move to the U.S., giving them a better payroll in the military service. This could allow the Taliban fighters to decrease while increasing the U.S. army at the same time. If I am the government, I would not choose a commander who did not even fight in Afghanistan. First, I will send the selected candidate to Afghanistan to fight as a high ranking lieutenant to fight with the commander. The commander will teach the lieutenant the territories and fighting tactics against the Taliban. I will also ask the commander to write reports about the lieutenant’s actions and see if he’s competent enough to become the ground zero’s commander. When the lieutenant is well taught by the commander and his actions were remarkable, then I would promote the lieutenant to be the commander. Good luck in Afghanistan, General McChrytsal.

Obama Plans to save 17 billion dollars

May 6, 2009, New York – A senior administration official announced that the White House proposed to save $17 billion in the following year by cutting down 121 federal programs. There was an estimation of approximately $11.5 billion of the savings would be from programs’ funds that are voluntary and they will be from non-defence programs. The proposed of cutting down programs, eliminating and reducing them will be released soon for the following year’s budget request. However, it was uncertain if the savings in 2010 would be used on other federal programs or for decreasing the country’s growing shortage. However, these actions might push long-term deficits significantly higher. Some experts suggests the government to stop spending funding while the economy is in catastrophe. The Government Accountability Office predicts that all federal revenue will be paid into the costs of Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security and public debs interest in 2025.

After reading this article, I trust that Obama chose and committed a wise decision. This might actually help and save the United State’s economy growth by cutting down funding from certain programs. However, the government must debate and be cautious about what they are cutting down. If they cut down funding in medical and education, this will be a foolish choice, as they are extremely important to develop the young minds of the nation and medical care is as significant because of the swine flu cases in the States. However, if the programs were already poor and unsuccessful, I agree that they should be reduced or even cut, there is no time for a second chance in this situation. The Senate and the House of Commons should use the year 2009 wisely and debate carefully on cutting down which programs are necessary and which are not. If one important program is removed, it might endanger the entire US economy or even the world's. Choose wisely, US!

Officials Encourages Schools remain Open

May 5, 2009 – Health and human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius of American Federal officials advised schools to re-open when swine flu even though there was a confirmed case at a school. With the terrified effects of the flu, 530 schools were shutdown nationwide because of it. St. Francis Preparatory School of New York, the first confirmed United States of swine flu, was now opened again, stating that it is “completely sanitized” for students. The swine flu had affected the world wide, people who went to Mexico were quarantined and confirmed cases on Mexicans who were on foreign countries were quarantined as well. The CDC said, there were more than 400 cases of U.S. swine flu cases. four new swine flu deaths confirmed, according to WHO. However, Mexico City will close public venues and schools across the nation.
After reading this article, I was relieved that the Mexican government was taking measures with the swine flu. The officials were not letting their guard down, which is a correct action, or if they did, the virus will spread and might even result more deaths. However, their acts could be improved, if I am the government of Mexico, I will keep public places closed and whichever place have a reported sight of the flu, including suspected ones, should be quarantined. I would also cease the airlines from entering Mexico, until the statistics of the flu cases descends. I hope that the Mexican officials will remain cautious. It is better to be safe than sorry. Even though, it might cause some inconvenience, life is more important than that. I hope the Mexican Officials will not change their minds and prevent the flu from spreading. Other countries should start more quarantine and be as cautious as Mexico. Keep it up, Officials!

Swine Flu Spreads

May 2, 2009, Geneva, Switzerland – The WHO, World Health Organization, said there are is an increase of swine flu patients to 658 and they are now arranging pandemics. Dr. M. J. Ryan, director of WHO noted that there are more disease spreading to other countries, which is extremely dangerous. Now, there are confirmed cases of swine flu in sixteen countries, including Mexico. In some countries, such as Hong Kong, China, some hotel residence were under quarantine to stop the spread of the virus. The CDC, Connecticut, Florida and Missouri, hopes that they will be able to find the vaccine soon.

This is some depressing news, this news reminded me of the dreaded SARS. Back in Hong Kong, I remember back then, SARS was extremely dangerous and everyone is alert. There are news of deaths almost everyday. I hope this swine flu is not as powerful as SARS. I think the flu were spread because of Mexicans travelling around the world. They should start setting up quarantines around the nation and prevent certain people from leaving the country. If the Mexican Officials do not act soon, the world might be contaminated. I hope that the vaccine will be created soon with limited amount of side effects. I trust that the CDC will be able to find a vaccine soon and cure contaminated patients. However, I fear that when the vaccine is created, the company selling the vaccine should be government owned, so that business men will not squeeze the prices up. Good luck, CDC!

Discovery Shuttle Delayed Launch

March 11, 2009— Shuttle launch for Discovery that was scheduled for tonight has been delayed because of a fuel tank leak. NASA announced that they might be launching a rocket on Thursday night if the revamping of the shuttle is finished. There were already a bunch of delays, more than a month, not allowing the shuttle to be blasted off. This will be NASA’s 29th shuttle mission into the space station. The launch date had be postpone for “additional analysis and particle impact testing associated with a flow-control valve in the shuttle’s main engines.” This shuttle’s, Discovery’s, mission was to deliver the final set of “solar array wings” to the space station. With the set of wings completed, the station will have enough electrical energy for the entire crew that double its size to six more people by May.

After reading this article, I was yet disappointed. I thought I would be hearing more good news from NASA about their exploration or constructions in space. I hope that this shuttle is fixed, so the construction of the space station will be completed. As these are completed, the space station will be fully operational as planned. The astronauts could expand their range of having more equipment in space, like developing more space stations, space exploration and space observatory. However, this news could be considered as mild good news. If the astronauts were inside this leaking shuttles, they could had been killed because of the leak. I was glad that the inspectors were able to check these problems out. If not, this would waste several human lives and all of the resources for this shuttle and research. I hope that the engineers will be more cautious, so they will not make anymore mistakes. Let’s hope that the launch will be on Thursday as expected. Good luck, NASA!

Car Bombing severely Injured in Iraq

March 10, 2009, Baghdad, Iraq—There was a car bombing at the national reconciliation conference. Thirty three people were killed and twenty or more were wounded by the bombing and Iraqi soldiers were one of the injured ones, according to the Interior Ministry Official. Another official told CNN that the commenced ambush had occurred when people were gathering outside when the conference had ended in the building. The people who held the meeting were Tribal Leaders of Abu Ghraib area, the Sunni Arab and the Shiite-led government. There was no suspects of the murderers yet. However, gatherings as such had been targeted by the anti-American Sunni Arab militants. The attack later followed the next Sunday when a man in a motorcycle had suicide bomb had killed thirty people and wounded at least sixty others, the targets were a police recruits. After the States invaded Iraq, they had purged Iraqi organizations such as the Baathists. The minority had condemned the member of the government, Al-Maliki, a Shiite, for not been fairly representing Iraqi’s ethnic groups.

This was another typical event that happened in Iraq. However, this time, I think these bombers were not terrorists, but protesters. These protesters actually think the Shiite-led government was not doing a good job on governing. They believe that they were not represented fairly. Hence, by making these bombings, this was a way to protest against the government. To stop these bombings, the Shiite-led government should listen to every different groups equally to prevent these kind of attacks from happening again. By shifting the government to democracy, real republic, could bring a fairer nation where everyone is equal, where government won’t favouring certain groups they are serving. It’s a time to change, Iraq!

Kepler seeks fo Life forms from Space

March 6, 2009— The Kepler space craft will be scheduled to launch into space on Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Florida, tonight. The purpose of this spacecraft is to search for “earth-like” planets. During the pre-launch news conference, NASA Associate Administrator Ed Weiler said, “This is a historical mission. It’s not just a science Mission, It really attacks some very basic human questions that have been part of our genetic code since that the first man or woman looked up in the sky and asked the question: Are we alone?” The Kepler contained a sophisticated, precise telescope that will observe more than hundred thousands of stars in the Milky Way. This spaceship will be observing the planets and seek out planets that are similar to earth.
After reading this article, it reminded me about my childhood—the entire period. All my feelings during my childhood—fear, obsession, happiness and excitement all revolved around space. The first book I had ever read about space was when I was four years old. After watching my first space fiction movie, I was even more obsessed about space. After reading all those articles about space abductions, it gave me nightmares when my age was not even close to two digits. This experiment is highly significant in my life. I was extremely thrilled to read this article and I hope that this spacecraft will find living life forms or a new home for us. I think the main purpose for this was not only finding a new intelligent life form but to find a new home also. The purpose of a new home is that we know that one day, the earth will run out of resources and will get too polluted to live in. Therefore, when this day come, we will have another place to live before the planet is destroyed. I hope that this day of earth’s end will never come. If not, we might all either have to find a new home or all get annihilated. However, we will need to be cautious about our environment and treat it more with care. When we have contact with a new intelligence, I trust that we could ally with each other and help each other. I hope that these alien species have the same intelligence as we do, so we will be able to communicate well with each other. Good luck, Kepler!

U.S. Charity rescued Teenage Iraq Boy

March 4, 2009, Iraq- Mohammed Rasoul, a fourteen year old, grew up on Falluja, a war-zone like city. In October 13, 2006, he and his cousin were sitting right next to a car bomb. Before he knew what happened, the bomb exploded, destroying his right leg and obliterated his cousin. When the Global Medical Relief Fund, a charity that supports children in war-torn homes internationally, found out about him, they helped him. The charity brought them living in the United States, which made them changed their thoughts about the country. His mother initially believed that America was only saw her dark and inhumane side. After living in America, she found out that America was a really friendly society and there was sympathy. With the charity’s donations, the Shriners Children’s Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania installed a prosthetic limb for Mohammed. When they returned back to Iraq, they spread the news of the good of America. However, after Mohammed lived in United States, where it was completely different from Iraq, he is now much more tensed about another attack. He feared that he might be ambushed again as he was regarded as a traitor after going to the United States. In the end, Mohammed returned back to the United States, thanks to the Global Medical Relief Fund. He will be replaced with a new prosthetic, as the old one does not fit him anymore.

This is a second chance. Everyone needs a second chance. Our God gave us a second chance to repent, which will help us turn into a better human being. My history teacher gave me a second chance to improve my mark, which boosted my mark up incredibly. The Global Medical Relief Fund gave Mohammed a second chance was to the United States, to have a new life. I am really happy for this boy. I hope that he will not waste his chance in the United States to do something foolish but the help the society in the future. Now, after reading this article, I would want to do more Community Service work; ready to help the needy. I hope that more Iraq and war-tarred citizens will be rescued by these kind of charity operations. This will provide the poor victims of their own society a second chance. I hope the citizens in Iraq would change their view about the United States, so this could help the two nations to create peace. Thus, will give the United States her second chance. In conclusions, a second chance is not only the essence of bringing a better society but to maintain hope for humanity also.

Green Jobs getting Popular

March 2, 2009, United States – In the States, most of the workers are now leaving their old jobs, looking forward for a job in a renewable energy source company. They believe that joining “green collar jobs” will offer them a more constancy stance for the economy. Some workers and university students were signing up for universities courses that offers a training program for wind turbine mechanics, solar panel installers, fuel-cell engineers or energy efficiency professionals. The US Government had now encourage green job corps for the stimulus package. The United States will be doubling its supply of renewable energy in a few years. These industries provided new jobs for laid off workers. However, there were difficulties for these industries. Solar energy and wind energy banks had reduced workers because of the Financial Crisis as banks do not have enough money to invest into these green companies. Nevertheless, the “green occupation” are getting popular and a safer career plan for University students.

This is good news not only for the economy, but for the world. When shifting to green energy, this could help the world to stop the rising of green house gases and reduce smog. This could postpone, and eventually stop, global warming. Air pollution and the melting of the polar caps might come to an end. I hope these renewable energies will be efficient and cheap. Consequently, the manufacturing industries will be using these rather than petroleum or coal. The usage of oil might come to a halt, this might cause some of the petroleum industries to go bankrupt. This could disrupt the economy, but gradually. Petroleum industries should probably start researching on renewable energy. Therefore, when petroleum’s usage had been ceased, it would not go bankrupt but start selling renewable energies. Green is our future!

North Korea prepares to launch “Satellite”

February 24, 2009, North Korea – North Korea announced that they were about to launch a “communications satellite”. The North Korean media announced that they were in “preparations to launch an experimental communications satellite are now making brisk headway.” North Korea had never stated the date of the experiment. They proclaimed that they will launch a satellite called Kwangmyongsong 2 into space. The North Korean media believed that the successful launch will be considered as “another giant stride forward in building an economic power.” U.S. and South Korean doubt that the North Korean’s intention. U.S. believed that they might be developing a long range missile that could hit them. South Korea’s Defense Minister stated that the North was arranging a missile test, not a satellite launch. A senior researcher at the state-backed Korean Institute of Defense Analyses trusted that the launch is now unavoidable after the North Korean’s announcement. He believed that North Korean will always test their experiments before publicizing it. The example would be the nuclear test in 2006, they had tested the nuclear warhead first, then publicizing it to the rest of the world. North Korea’s previous test had violated the United Nation’s rules and regulations about prohibition of future missile launches since 1718. South Korea’s Foreign Ministry had forewarned that North Korean launch would defy the regulation. A senior analyst of Jane’s Defense Weekly, Joseph Bermudez, was an specialist in studying on North Korea’s missile programs. He indicated that even though the North Koreans were not developing missiles but launching satellites, this would improve their technology. If a country could launch a satellite, this meant that they are capable of launching missiles. Bermudez believe that the North Korean could be launching any time.
Ever since reading the North Korean nuclear test had already horrified me in 2006. Few days ago, finding out the Iranians developing nuclear arms, claiming it was for energy source not weaponry terrified me too. Now, the North Korean are developing a more sophisticated weaponry for war was completely petrified me. I trust that North Korea was developing satellites. But even though they are developing satellites, they were using the research on satellites to build missiles. This satellite might be a missile launching computer system that helps missiles to direct to its targets specifically. I am afraid that North Korea might be arming their country to prepare for war, declaring war on the U.N. If North Korea could not be stopped, there might be a possibility of a World War 3: The Nuclear War. To stop the North Korean from that, the United Nations could be sending in ambassadors into North Korea and ask them to stop. The main reason North Korea is developing these weaponry was because that they are weak and they don’t want other people to know. Just like a barking dog that never bites. They want to show the rest of the world they are all-powerful but they are trying to pretend like something else. They are weak. The United Nations should give them a helping hand on transforming them to a more civilized and developed country. If these plans could not work, I am afraid that this might lead to war. The one starting the war might be either side first, the United Nations; trying to stop North Korea from developing more dangerous weaponry. Or North Korea; their conquest of world domination. Hopefully this will be settled with talks, not with lives. Stop, North Korea, we know that you are pretending something you will never be...without our help.

Four Coalition Members killed in Action

February 24, 2009, Kabul, Afghanistan— Today, four associates of the coalition force and an Afghan civilian were annihilated by a bomb that was hit by their vehicles, according to the United States military. The catastrophe had occurred when these soldiers were on a tour of duty with the Afghan National Security Forces. In addition, there was a small combat between the militants and the Afghan National Army Soldiers. The Afghan National Army soldiers, who were backed up by the coalition’s strength, were able to kill 16 militants during a fight in a scouting investigation in the Helmand province. According to the US military, while the troops were policing the area, their party were ambushed. The soldiers counter attacked with snipers and dead eyes while the militants used firing mortars and grenade launchers. After this small battle, the soldiers took the number of improvised bombs that the militants possessed. The end of this fight was a defeat for the militants. The U.S. Forces-Afghanistan’s spokesperson believed that the militants will mislay their competence in operating the Hemland province.

This was a victory for the U.S. military. I hope that the Afghanistan militarist movements will come to an end. I hope that the U.S. military will return peace back to Afghanistan, restoring the paradise back to this land. I hope that this conflict will soon be over. However, the U.S. military still need to be cautious about the militants. Not only, they need to look out for ambushes and other dangerous accidents, they must make sure they tie up all loose ends when they are still in the country. If they did not, the country will not be stable, making all of their hard work, all for nothing. If the country is not stable, the anarchism might spread from this region to its neighbouring region, making a big but unwanted forest fire. Be careful, U.S. troops.

Iran capable of building Nuclear Warheads

February 20, 2009, Washington- The U.N. Nuclear watchdog agency reported that Iranian scientists are competent in building nuclear weapons. However, the Institute for Science and International Security account and had settled into the conclusion that Iran did not produce any nuclear weaponry. Yet, they have enough uranium to build one warhead. International Atomic Energy Agency stated that Iran must be further developed in order to construct the dangerous goods. The IAEA had discovered that Iran had been considerably intensified the amount of developing uranium. The scientists showed that they were in “research and development mode.” Iran deprived the fact of the “weapon allegations”, indicating that the facts were “baseless” and “fabricated”. Iran said they would want to use nuclear as an energy for their country. However, other countries believed they were trying to build nuclear warheads.

This is an unappealing sight. I believe that the Iranians were lying of stating that they are not building nuclear warheads. I think they want to start another war with this power to be the greatest power in the world by using nuclear weapons as their fist. I hope the United Nations will cease the Iranians from developing these dangerous goods. The United Nations must stop them for, if the Iranians lied, they could erupt a World War 3, this time a nuclear war. To stop them, I would suggest the United Nations to send in some inspectors and will need more detailed reports on their research. This could keep an eye on the Iranians and would give them some pressure to develop the warheads but concentrate more on their energy source. However, I still believe that Iranians should stop developing nuclear growth because I do not expect that Iranians would be capable of taking care of the radioactive waste from the nuclear power plants. If the radioactive waste or the nuclear power plants are not carefully taken of, there will be severe problems. I hope and suppose that the United Nation will Iranians from developing nuclear technology. Until Iran is a more stable and more developed country, they should not develop these nuclear technology. Please cease that at once, Iran!

More US troops into Afghanistan

February 18, 2009, Washington – President Obama had just commended to give a substantial boost of troops into Afghanistan, according to the Pentagon Officers. The garrison of troops involve the number of 8000 marines and 4000 Army Troops. Another 5000 troops will be arranged and enter the region later to back up the troops there. Obama believed that increasing the number of troops was necessary to control the chaos in Afghanistan. There will be a total of 17000 troops to settle the peace in Afghanistan. The troops there will also be training Afghanistan local troops, creating smaller units and command posts to reinforce the American troopers. So, with more troops, the army could be divided, some to defend the area, others could seek out terrorists and stop them. The plan for this amount of troops was to be able to have sufficient number of men to “seize and hold” to maintain security. Obama also believed that Afghanistan did not have enough attention, direction and resources. By sending the army in, this could improve the situation.

This could be good news for America. With all these troops being hired, I trust that the number of unemployment would decrease. Many unemployed citizens might be signing up for the military upon hearing this. I hope that this could boost the economy around the world as the troops need a lot of equipment. So, the US military will be ordering weaponry, arms and vehicles to support their needs around the world. This could allow many different factories around the world to work again and gain money. This will then improve the current international economical state. I wish that this could be a cure for the economic crisis. I hope that America will be able to stop all those Taliban causes of disorder, then liberate Afghanistan for real. Not occupying the land with army. On the other hand, make Afghanistan become a democratic, peaceful country. Good luck, US army!

Pirate Suspects captured by US Navy

February 11, 2009, Gulf of Aden – The United States Navy successfully rounded up seven pirate suspects. These men were founded by the Navy when the tanker made a distress call. These men’s skiff was halted before they were able to hijack a tanker. These suspects will be trialed at Kenya. At the Horn of Africa, piracy had become a dilemma in the uncontrolled regions. Hijacking vessels and ships had been extremely common. Nearly 100 vessels were hijacked by pirates.

This is good new. Finally there is an international improvement in the world against piracy. This is a good effort done by the United States Navy which I hope the rest of the world would follow. I believe the government living around those regions with pirates in their waters should not be bullied by these thugs anymore. They should send in law enforcements and change the lawless regions and international waters more security. This could prevent these criminals from stealing their goods again. I hope that the United States Navy will assist and aid the government if they send in their own navies to follow the US’s skirmish act against these robbers. Good job, US Navy.

Amazon Tribe Members accused of Cannibalism

Amazon, Brazil, February 9, 2009- A disaster occurred when a farmer was murdered, butchered and eaten by the Amazon Tribe members living in an isolated region of Brazilian Amazon village of Envira. Maronilton da Silva Clementino, chief of the village of staff, said the Kulina tribe’s members killed Ocelio Alves de Carvalho, age nineteen, while herding cattle last week in the remote regions of Envira. However, after this murder, there were no arrest warrants nor military or civil police were allowed to enter Indian territory because of the Brazilian laws. The victim was initially invited by the tribesman and were later eaten as a meal. According to Clementino, he said that “The family (of the victim) decided to go into the reservation and that’s when they saw this body quartered and his skull hanging on a tree. It was very tragic for the family.” The Indians had initially boasted on eating the victim ritually that was how the public found out about the victim’s death. Clementino stated that the family was starting to get irritated by the law, where only the Indians have more privilege compared to local citizens. The Kulina Indians are often outnumbering police, which was another problem on the law. The Kulina are considered as an “isolated” tribe but some have contact with the non-indian population.
This was a catastrophic story. I pity the family of the victim. The Brazil government should change the law immediately. What they fear was that when the tribesman are on a rampage, there will not be enough police officers to keep the peace. I believe that the government should raise the wage of the police force and add more number of officers into the law enforcement. The government should also provide the police more training and equipment. This will stop the aboriginals from rioting. I think the Brazil government should change the law so it could benefit not only the aboriginals but also the ones living out of the isolated areas. The government is not paying attention to the isolated areas. They should try and educate them to prevent from their inhumane acts. I hope the Brazil government would make these changes, or who knows who will be next?

Critics believe stopping contaminated foods are most unlikely

February 5, 2009, Minneapolis, Minnesota – There was a Georgia peanut factory that was supervised with inferior food safety measurements. This caused an outbreak of salmonella, contained in the food that the factory was distributing. There were already eight deaths because of the food. At least five hundred people at minimum in critical conditions caused by the contamination. Thousands of peanut products were prevented from being sold or shipped. However, the federal Food and Drug Administration were belatedly to thwart the problem. Minnesota authorities recognized that peanut butter was the main reason that caused the epidemic of the flu. The main difficulties to was it would be impossible to stop companies from shipping the polluted products. Another trouble was that the nation was not making enough food plants federal inspections. The inspectors tracked down the company’s records and found that the company had knowingly shipped products with salmonella. However, the company denied for shipping the hazardous products and proved that the products do not contain any salmonella. It was believed that the private inspections were bribed to give the plant high ratings about its sanitation. The company promised “to ensure the public safety” and stated that “it never happens again.” The Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tommy Irvin said that the food products that tests for salmonella had one positive and one negative. The company was criticized on believing the positive testing. Irvin stated that when a product contained salmonella, it “should be destroyed”. Critics also believe that the company was extremely irresponsible for this event. Some families of the victims were not told if their families’ died in food poisonings, the government was trying to cover it up.

The FDA proclaimed that Peanut Corporation of America will be trailed by a federal criminal investigation into the outbreak. Company executives will be required to go for the conference that will be held a week later.

This article proved that America’s food products are as worse as what they criticize other countries’ food products. I had always believed that America companies were strict on manufacturing food and any company under that country will have one of the best quality food internationally. However, this issue had proved that I was wrong. Now I fear to purchase any American based peanut product. I fear that if I consume these products, I might end up as the same fate of the ones who were in critical conditions after consuming the goods. To stop this from happening, if I was the government, I would make more stricter rules and assign more jobs on food inspectors. This could not only tackle the food contamination issues, but this could also stop the problem of unemployment, since the financial crisis. I hope that the new appointed food inspectors will be more cautious and stand up for justice; so they won't be bribed by the companies to give them superb ratings. I hope this could prevent future food

contamination.

Chairman of Arkansas Medical Board injured by Lexus' Boom

February 4, 2009, United States - There was a mystery today that Dr. Trent Pierce's Hybrid Lexus SUV malfunctioned. The car faulted, injuring Dr. Pierce. This caused him to be in a critical condition. Police believed that this might only be a vehicle malfunction for there are no signs of "foul play". FBI agents had discovered that there was a fire in the car but no evidence of an explosion yet. FBI spokesman, Jason Pack indicated more agents will arrive to the scene and scoop up more evidence to find the car problem's origin.
This article was truly booming. I was extremely surprised to see such a popular car, the Hybrid Lexus SUV malfunctioned so critically that it injured the passenger inside! After reading this article, I think the FBI agents should go to the car manufacturer. There, they could witness and check if the building of the cars are correctly built. The agents should also be more alert on other public servant's vehicles and double check them to prevent any foul plays. I believe that Dr. Trent Pierce's accident was very accordingly planned. The murderers were trying to kill him because Dr. Pierce might had indirectly insulted them or ruined their lives somehow. Now, the killers wanted revenge, by sabotaging his vehicles and clearing the evidence of it, they believe it could kill him. In addition, I would also suggest the FBIs to guard Pierce in the hospital to prevent any unknown or unwanted visitors from entering and finish their dirty work. Recover soon, Trent!

John McCain "Seriously Negotiate" with the Democrats

February 2, 2009, United States - Senator John McCain believed there were no serious debates with the Republicans yet. President Obama created a stimulus bill that will help the country to face unemployment problems. McCain believed that this stimulus bill will not help the country. Some Republican senators made a package that focus on tax cuts, providing homes and get rid of useless policies. Republicans complained that they should not be part of the stimulus package for it had included giving financial supports to the veterans at the Philipines. McCain trusted that policy changes had nothing to do with recovering the economy and anything else. President Obama considered that the package would win the Republican’s support once he had finished improvising the bill. However, the Bill had been passed in the House but no Republicans supported the package. The bill was criticized as “a Christmas tree where members are hanging their favourite program on it.” by Collins. The main problem of the bill was not directing towards the influence of the economy.
This article will test out Obama’s ideas and leadership. I hope that Obama will figure out a way that the rest of the House will believe it is serious enough to pass it. If I was in charge, I would had chosen to create a bill is to increase tourism. So, by eliminating the problems with entering US and making foreigners entering the US more easier will boost the economy for shopping and other things. By creating tourism, more jobs will be assigned for people; this could tackle the problem with unemployment.
